WELCOME TO THE FINAL
ÜDVÖZÖLJÜK A DÖNTŐN
Welcome to Budapest for the 2018/19 UEFA Women’s Champions League final. This is a historic moment for the premier club competition in European women’s football. The match will take place at the Hungarian capital’s splendid Ferencváros Stadium, and means that the UEFA Women’s Champions League final will have its own separate venue from now on. It is also the first time that Hungary has hosted a major international women’s final.
The match will now have a platform of its own and enjoy additional exposure. We hope that this decision will help the final become an unmissable event and enjoyable television spectacle in its own right. It is an ideal time for change, given that the women’s game is flourishing and has entered an exciting era of development.
UEFA is fully committed to taking women’s football forward. We are increasing funding
in our Women’s Football Development Programme by 50%, and UEFA campaigns such as Together #WePlayStrong are striving to raise participation levels.
This final will feature leading European women’s players who are inspiring women and girls to take up the game. We are eager to see two fine teams contesting the title, and we are confident that the match will prove to be a superb showcase for women’s football.
Good luck to the finalists – and enjoy the game!
